My Modcloth flat wish list right now

Modcloth really has a tendency to stock really nice flats. Just at this very moment I am considering getting no less than 3 pairs of flats from them!

1. I have never owned a pair of Minnetonkas, but always dreamed of it, as these shoes just look sooo comfortable! And I really like the look of this dark brown pair. If they had them in tan, that would have been even better, but brown definitely works for fall too.

2. This monochrome pair from Mel Shoes. I am a sucker for black and white together and these have a rather unusual design which I love.

3. These ink colored booties, although I am really not a bootie person. But in some weathers, nothing beats a bootie, so I am thinking I should invest in a pair. And at least this pair looks cute! And has a great color to fit my wardrobe!

2012 recap

A lot can happen in a year, and here at The Flats Blog, there has been quite a lot of action during the last year indeed! I wrote 165 posts about flats, celebrities wearing flats, the flats I bought myself and so on. Not a bad number, considering that I actually managed to stick to the topic, which - let's face it - is pretty narrow, the entire time!

I also shopped quite a lot of flats, that I shared with you, here are some examples:

But I am also reminded of the fact that I did not take photos of all the flats I bought yet, so I still have some catching up to do!

I also missed out on a pair of flats I really, really wanted, and that still annoys me (yes, I am serious!), the Jeffrey Campbell Cosmo spiked flats mentioned here.

Most readers of the blog during the year were from the US, the UK and Canada, but I also had readers from more exotic locations like Thailand, Mexico and Brazil. So I would say it was a pretty good year for the blog. And I have all my readers to thank for that of course. So Happy (and Chanel flat filled) 2012 to you all! Let's talk again on the other side!

My new, Chinese style flats

At the moment, I am travelling in Asia, so of course I am doing some shopping as well. And one of the things I love about shopping in Asia is that not only is it cheap (compared to where I am from anyway), they also seem really into flats here, so you can find a large variety of flat shoes almost everywhere. Not least was this true when I visited China recently, I saw amazing flats there, including the classic China flats, and of course I decided to get some Chinese flats myself too.

A whole 4 pairs, as a matter of fact, all with a very typical Chinese look.

But if you like these kinds of flats, you don't actually need to travel all the way to China (even though it is something I highly recommend, since I had an absolutely amazing time there!), these Chinese flats are widely available on Ebay, for example too.

I love both pairs, but actually think that Blue Ivy's pair is a little bit cuter. Is that weird?

Pregnant Molly Sims in slightly metallic flats

I have to say I love Molly Sims' style while pregnant. She manages to look appropriate yet very supermodel like at the same time, which is not the easiest thing to do.

I am really wondering about the flats though, they look kind of like Lanvins, but I am not completely sure. The color is really nice, I think. Demure, yet unusual and still neutral and classy.

Why a blog about flats?

One might wonder why I've decided to create a blog about flats. Well, I have seen that there are plenty of blogs about high heels, and while I love that look on others, I really love flats more myself.

You see, I live in a big city, where I walk a lot, take cabs and ride buses, and I always have tons of stuff to do, and not always enough time to go home to change my shoes. So I invest in high quality flats instead of in high heels, and they have become quite a signature look for me.

And while I know that high heels appeal to more people than flats do, I do think there must be other flat lovers out there as well. So this is my way of sharing the cutest flats I run into with others. So if you are a flat lover too, you are more than welcome to drop me a line!
